So this past weekend was a big one for me.

For one, I played a string of shows Thursday through Sunday! Now that’s a big deal cause I haven’t been able to do that since Covid-19 hit. Second, well I’ve never played solo acoustic well.... EVER! It was me, my looper and my guitar! What a feeling! I felt like I started music all over. Now don’t get me wrong I’ve been practicing for this. I’ve had this in my head for a while. I bought my looper 4 year’s ago! I been laying low and practicing until I was ready for making mistakes in front of people! Haha! And there were plenty of mistakes! I messed up loops, forgot lyrics, forgot what the song that I just mentioned I’m about to play sounded like. My mic stand broke on Thursday, Friday I forgot to bring my guitar to the gig. Saturday I was so nervous and tired and of course that’s when the local live tv shows up. Sunday was the best though. I invited my god daughter to join me and my good friend with stage freight to join me. Since they were the nervous ones it made it easier to hold it together because I had to for them. They killed it too! I was so proud of both of them. I went to bed that night with a full heart and a smile on my face. I’m thank full for the business that let me create music in their spaces and for the people that would acknowledge me with their smiles, applause, and tips. It was very much appreciated and makes me feel like I can keep on doing this. From the kid that could only play power chords in the local rock band to reading charts and touring the country with national recording artists, to the one man looping band. Life is amazingly crazy. Here’s to adapting, always learning, and overcoming.
